International travel can expose patients to a variety of illnesses not present in the US. While most travel-related illnesses are not cause for concern, a few can pose significant risk to patients and staff.

Symptoms including the following are indicators of a potentially more serious threat:

  • feaver
  • cough
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • rash
  • and diarrhea

To ensure these risks are evaluated properly, Veterans should tell their providers if they have returned from international travel within the past 30 days.
